Time: 2024.5.29  |  Source: SRRAND MIDO

1. Screen Printing

Description: Screen printing, also known as silk screen printing, involves creating a stencil (or screen) and using it to apply layers of ink on the printing surface. Each color requires a different screen.

Advantages:

Durable and long-lasting prints

Cost-effective for large orders

Vibrant colors with high detail

Best For: Bulk orders, simple designs with fewer colors

2. Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printing

Description: DTG printing uses a specialized inkjet printer to apply water-based inks directly onto the fabric. This method allows for full-color prints with high detail.

Advantages:

No setup costs for multiple colors

Ideal for small orders or one-offs

Ability to print complex, detailed images

Best For: Small orders, complex designs, photo prints

3. Heat Transfer Printing

Description: Heat transfer printing involves transferring an image printed on a special transfer paper onto the fabric using heat and pressure. This includes methods like vinyl transfers and sublimation.

Advantages:

Suitable for small runs and on-demand printing

Allows for detailed and full-color images

Can be used on various fabrics

Best For: Custom prints, small orders, intricate designs

4. Sublimation Printing

Description: Sublimation printing is a type of heat transfer that uses sublimation ink and transfer paper. The ink turns into gas when heated and embeds itself into polyester fibers.

Advantages:

Permanent, vibrant prints that don’t fade

Full-color and all-over prints possible

Best For: Polyester fabrics, full-color designs, all-over prints

5. Vinyl Cutting

Description: Vinyl cutting involves cutting designs from sheets of colored vinyl and then heat pressing them onto the fabric. The design is created by layering different colors of vinyl.

Advantages:

Durable and high-quality prints

Great for simple, bold designs

Ideal for custom names and numbers

Best For: Small orders, simple designs, personalized prints

6. Embroidery

Description: Embroidery uses thread to stitch designs directly onto the fabric. This method creates a textured, professional look.

Advantages:

Durable and long-lasting

Adds a high-end, professional touch

Suitable for logos and text

Best For: Corporate apparel, uniforms, high-end designs

7. Discharge Printing

Description: Discharge printing involves removing the dye from the fabric and replacing it with a new color. It’s often used on dark-colored garments.

Advantages:

Soft feel, as the ink is absorbed into the fabric

Vibrant colors on dark fabrics

No heavy ink layers

Best For: Dark fabrics, vintage and distressed looks

Each method has its strengths and is suitable for different types of designs, order sizes, and fabric types. Choosing the right printing method depends on your specific needs and the desired outcome of your t-shirt designs.
